In ayurvedic oil-dripping therapies, the active plant principles are effectively transferred to the body with the help of warm oil, due to its particularly good carrier quality.
OIL-DRIPPING UPON FOREHEAD (SHIRODHARA)
Cuprins
Shirodhara is a therapeutic head massage, practiced for thousands of years in traditional Ayurvedic medicine and considered a true remedy against stress and mental tension, an ancient Ayurvedic purification therapy for the head area, balancing the central nervous system and rejuvenation. Given that special oils are used in the procedure, obtained by cold pressing, with macerated for several days medicinal plants, the beneficial effects also extend to the scalp area and hair health.
What kind of problems can be alleviated with Shirodhara therapeutic head massage:
- Chronic fatigue
- Intellectual overload generated problems
- Headaches
- Migraines
- Anxiety
- Insomnias
- Rhinitis
- Sinusitis
How it works: Shirodhara translates as oil dripping on the head (“shiro” means head, and “dhara” denotes the flow of oil on the forehead). Basically, the therapy consists of pouring warm oil on the forehead (in which different plants with proven therapeutic properties have been macerated for several days), from a certain height, in a continuous flow, contributing to calming the central nervous system, to inducing the state of relaxation and reducing stress, worries and mental tension. After the entire amount of oil in the bowl has been dripped on the forehead, the therapist performs a gentle massage of the scalp, to harmonize and balance the body’s energies.
PINDA SWEDAN TREATMENT – STEAMING HERBAL BUNDLES (AYURVEDIC MASSAGE AND SAUNA)
This procedure involves Ayurvedic massage with warm macerated oil and herbal sachet, followed by sauna and shower. Beyond the fact that the procedure is extremely relaxing and pleasant, the numerous benefits recorded in physical and mental terms, place it in the top of the most complex therapeutic methods.
How does the warm oil massage with herbal bundles improve the general condition:
- Removes fatigue and tension on a mental level
- Stimulates blood circulation
- Contributes to full body detox
- Increases energy level and tone
- Calms body and mind
- Relieves pain and muscle discomfort
- Stimulates the immune system
How does it work: the whole body is massaged with warm oil bundles, with medicinal plants that have been macerated for several days, containing carefully selected herbs with important therapeutic properties. The massage is a toning one, performed according to Ayurvedic principles and aims to unlock and eliminate stagnant energies through the elimination gates, as well as bringing new energies, for stimulating the immune system, improving blood circulation and revitalizing the body.
Steps to follow after the procedure: the massage is followed by a sauna session to help eliminate toxins and purify the body.
HOT OIL THERAPY – External Basti
External BASTI – an ayurvedic locally applied procedure (on the chest, lumbar or cervical), in which a pool of warm oil (obtained by cold pressing and appropriate medicinal plants have been macerated for 7 days) is retained in a ring made of dough.
This Ayurvedic procedure significantly improves physical and mental state, helps body detoxification and discomfort relief. Just like the other procedures that are based on warm oil application, warm oil pool in dough ring has many therapeutic benefits, the difference being that the therapy is focused especially on problem areas: chest, lumbar or cervical.
External Basti is recommended for:
- Pain and inflammation relief
- Blood circulation stimulation
- Sciatic nerve caused back problems
- Cervical spondylosis
- Muscle strains
- Respiratory diseases
- Colds and flu
- Rheumatic pains
How does it work: depending on area that needs to be treated, a dough ring is applied on the chest, lumbar or cervical area. Inside that ring (whose role is preventing oil leakage), a layer of warm oil is applied, in which medicinal plants have been macerated for several days. The temperature of the oil is maintained at a constant level throughout the entire therapy (minimum 20 minutes), it being reheated and added gradually, and at the end, after removing the ring, the targeted area is gently massaged to amplify the procedure effects.
Warm oil pool in dough ring can also be applied as a method of preventing back, respiratory or spinal problems.
